The M Film Lab Board announced that it plans on holding multiple screenwriting labs throughout the year to help build storytelling skills of writers from various underrepresented minorities. Followed by a successful lab held in the Fall of 2021 for Muslim screenwriters, and the tremendous resposne to the one currently in progress for Black screenwriters, M Film Lab Founder, Mohannad Malas, said he hopes to ramp up to 4 labs per year, focusing each time on a different minority group: “The convenience and efficiency of the online format, and the technology provided by our partners at Open Screenplay, means that we can operate in a very cost-effective manner, allowing us to better use our resources to hold more labs, reach more aspiring writers, and fund more productions”.
